Lady Vicki L. Kemp

Lady Vicki L. Kemp, Founder

Lady Vicki Lynne Kemp was born to the proud parents of the late Pastor Daniel and Evangelist Cora Jordan. She has been married to her friend, Bishop Vernon R. Kemp, for 30 years. Lady Kemp has gracefully and humbly served with her husband at Greater Harvest Christian Center for 21 years. God has blessed this union with innovative, gifted, and anointed children.

Lady Kemp serves as the Women’s Ministry Administrator; she has a passion for encouraging women to be stronger emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. She also provides leadership on the Board of Scholastic Education of Greater Harvest Christian Center where she devotes her time to developing educational strategies to help students win. She formerly served on the Board of Directors of Bakersfield Senior Center of Kern County.

Lady Kemp received her Evangelist License in December 2004. God has graced her to travel and minister the gospel of Jesus Christ. On August 1, 2018, Lady Kemp retired after 17 years as a full-time employee for Kern Regional Center in Bakersfield, CA where she served as a social worker for the special needs population of Kern County. Lady Kemp earned her bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from California State University Bakersfield in 1996.

Along with her spiritual accomplishments, Lady Kemp is the author of Better than Yesterday: Proverbs of a Woman’s Heart. This anointed book was selected for inclusion in the permanent collection by the Library of Congress on November 21, 2018, which is one of the highest honors an author can achieve. Christian Living Books, Inc. also awarded her the distinction, of Best-Selling Author. Her newly released book is entitled, “Grace In Deep Waters.” When life’s deep waters pull you under and threaten to drown you, reach for grace. This new release is also in inclusion in the Library of Congress on June 25, 2021.

Adding to her entrepreneurship, she is a ghostwriter, coach, and consultant for established and inspiring authors. Lady Kemp is the founder of Harvest of Hope Educational Services, birthed on August 9, 2016. This educational component is a branch of Greater Harvest Christian Center. She has a kingdom agenda to reach lost souls for Christ while also challenging and empowering youth to be successful in education. Her unwavering faith, compassion, selflessness, and incessant prayers speak volumes about her character and epitomize an undeniable and genuine love for God and His people. Lady Kemp’s favorite statement is, “There is absolutely nothing too hard for our great God.”

Senior Pastor Bishop Vernon R. Kemp

Bishop Vernon R. Kemp founded the Greater Harvest Christian Center Church located in Bakersfield, California in February 2001. This February 2021, the ministry celebrated 20 years of excellence in ministry. His transformational leadership and obedience to the Lord lead him to establish the Southern Central Ecumenical Fellowship of Churches in October 2016 and he was consecrated as Bishop on June 29, 2019. Bishop Vernon R. Kemp has been married to Victoria L. Kemp for 29 years. God has blessed them with five gifted and anointed children. Bishop Kemp is the 15th child born to the late Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt and Mother Maude E. Kemp. He was raised under the tutelage of his father at the Greater Evangelist Temple Church of God in Christ where he served and received his Elders license on June 10, 1995, from Bishop Warren S. Wilson. Bishop Kemp later received his Pastors licenses and was consecrated by Bishop W.W. Hamilton on March 9, 2002, and served as an Administrative Assistance in the California Northwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.

His passion for ministry, operative in the spirit of excellence with a kingdom agenda, has laid the foundation for other ministries to develop. The primary focus is to be a word teaching, and preaching ministry that supports and encourages the building of the family. The goal is to reach the lost by any means necessary with the determination to be a ministry that promotes Evangelism and Biblical Education in the studying of God’s Word.

Bishop Vernon R. Kemp attended Canyon Hills Bible College and St. Paul Baptist Seminary Bible Institute where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology. He also attended Life Coach Institute of Orange County, where he earned a Certified Degree as a Professional Life Coach. Along with his spiritual accomplishments, Bishop Vernon R. Kemp is the Co-Founder of Harvest of Hope Educational Services, birthed on August 9, 2016, to foster youth within the community in education. He was awarded Community Recognition from the Bakersfield City School District Board of Education for his commitment and support of public education. In addition to several recognitions, he also received recognition from Project B.E.S.T. (Black Excellence in Scholarship and Teaching) for young African-American males and was the recipient of the Kern County Black Chamber of Commerce Faith-Based Organization, awarded in 2015. He was also the recipient of the 2016 Kern County NAACP Award for “Pastor of the Year.”

Bishop Vernon R. Kemp currently serves as a member of the African American Board of Council of California State University Bakersfield. He has great concern for the community and leads Greater Harvest Christian Center as a designated Church of God in Christ Urban Initiative certified church that focuses on the community’s economic development, education, financial literacy, family life, and crime prevention. Bishop Vernon R. Kemp is uniquely gifted at blending styles of worship from the very contemporary and urban down to the traditional without sacrificing one for the other. It has resulted in a church that is built around a unique diversity from various age groups and cultures who all gather in celebrative worship.
